Walden Trees from 24 Tree Studies for Henry David Thoreau by Thaddeus Holownia, 2001
"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately."
Holownia was attracted to the quiet and eclectic character of hardwoods and softwoods in a forest which is a silent partner to the busy and often hectic landscape of the pond proper. Making many walks through the woods, Holownia discovered trees that were both naturally and unnaturally individual. Both individually and collectively, Holownia’s 24 Tree Studies for Henry David Thoreau make an intimate portrait of the forest surrounding Walden Pond. [ftp]
The Thunder Perfect Mind
I was sent from the Power
And I have come to those who think upon me.
And I was found among those who seek after me (13,2-5) .
Look at me, you who think upon me;
And you hearers, hear me!
You who are waiting for me, take me to yourselves.
And do not pursue me from your vision.
And do not make your sound hate me, nor your hearing.
Do not be ignorant of me at any place or any time.
Be on guard!
Do not be ignorant of me. (13,5-15).
For I am the first and the last.
I am the honored and the scorned,
I am the harlot and the holy one.
I am the wife and the virgin.
I am the m[oth]er and the daughter.
I am the members of my mother.
Silence is an ocean
language is a river.
A hundred thousand voices saying:
“That’s enough for now.”
When the ocean calls you,
don’t go to the river.
Listen to the ocean saying:
“That’s enough for now”.
